Selecting the Best Small Sailboat Plans

Are you considering building the boat of your dreams? How can be sure that building the boat from the small sailboat plans you select will result in the boat you hope it will?  Taking into consideration the points below will provide you with a project that you will enjoy for years to come.

How Large or Small should the Sailboat be?

Think about things like how long are you going to use it at a time?  If you are going to be sailing for a couple of hours on the occasional Saturday, you probably won’t need a cabin.  If you will be sailing more frequently or for longer periods of time, you may want to consider building a sailboat with a cabin.

How many people do you plan to sail with?  If you’ll be sailing alone, you will likely be fine with a smaller boat than you would need if you wanted to bring friends.

Where will you be sailing?

Not every sailboat is perfect for every location.  If you will be sailing in a small pond, then a large sailboat that can sleep four will likely be too big.  Likewise, if you will be sailing in the ocean, the smallest of Sailboats may not be safe except the right along the shore.

What does the sailboat look Like?

There is a certain feeling when you are driving a car you love, likewise, there is also a great feeling to sailing a boat that you love to be seen in.  I recommend that you search on the internet for pictures of sailboats and then purchase small sailboat plans for a similar looking boat.

How much time do you have to build your sailboat?

Are you hoping to have a sailboat ready in a matter or days or months, or is your hope to build an heirloom that you can leave to your grand children?  Select small sailboat plans that reflect the amount of time and work you are planning to put into your boat.

Selecting the best small sailboat plans for you can mean the difference between a failed project and you getting the exact sailboat that you are hoping for.  A little planning ahead can result in the sailboat you have in mind if it is a sailboat that you build in a weekend or if it will become an heirloom.
